Sky Sutra Is Part Shooter, Part Platformer, All Awesome - and Made in India

Sky Sutra Is Part Shooter, Part Platformer, All Awesome – and Made in India

A corner table of a local bar is hardly where you would expect to check out a brand new, unreleased video game, but that's exactly what happened as we huddled around a laptop and played Sky Sutra. Created by Mumbai-based Yellow Monkey Studios, Sky Sutra has a heavy focus on couch co-op, and is coming to the PC and possibly, the PlayStation 4.
Yellow Monkey has already made a name for itself with high quality premium mobile games such as It's Just a Thought, Huebrix, and most recently, Socioball. Sky Sutra is meant for a new audience, but the developers have made a polished game that makes good use of the controller.

At first, we were skeptical, because Sky Sutra can easily be mistaken for many of the side-scrolling, endless runners we're subject to on Android and iOS. There's a cute looking art-style with colourful backdrops, two boxy characters, and a never-ending carpet suspended in..

Pro Evolution Soccer [year] Review: It's Fast but Is It Fantastic?

Pro Evolution Soccer 2024 Review: It’s Fast but Is It Fantastic?

September 17, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

The fight for the top football game of the year has been hotly contested for years between Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) and EA Sports' FIFA. Every year, Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) makes yet another 'comeback', and its latest stab comes in the form of PES 2016. We liked the little we played of the game at Gamescom 2015, but does the full game match up? Read on to find out.
The first thing you'll notice in PES 2016 is how fast it is. Every single action on the pitch, from passing, shooting, or heading, is all done at an almost manic pace. It's very different from FIFA 16, which rewards thoughtful, strategic play.
On the other hand, each match in PES 2016 is an adrenaline-fuelled romp that has you acting on instinct. It rewards attacking and creative build ups. This means that if you enjoyed earlier instalments of FIFA, which played up pace over other attributes, then you'll find yourself right at home with PES 2016.

Dreadnought Is Team Fortress 2 With Giant Spaceships

Dreadnought Is Team Fortress 2 With Giant Spaceships

With Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft having a gargantuan presence at Gamescom 2015 and grabbing most of the attention, it's easy to forget that the PC can hold its own. One such game that bears testament to this is Dreadnought. It's a space combat flight simulator by Yager, the developer known for Spec Ops: The Line.
The game puts you in the role of a captain of a variety of ships, ranging from nimble corvettes all the way up to the titular dreadnought, which is slow but deathly in the hands of a capable player. We spent some time with Dreadnought's deathmatch mode demo at Gamescom 2015, and came back impressed.

One of the biggest pain points in space games is allowing for vertical movement, and letting the player ascend and descend at will. The first thing that hit us when playing Dreadnought was how easy it is to control the ships. In addition to this, each class of ship is easy t..

Mortal Kombat X [year]

Mortal Kombat X 2024

February 17, 2016 Richard Gomez 0

Mortal Kombat is a series that needs no introduction. It's been around since the early 90s as a competitor to the incredibly popular Street Fighter games, except gorier and much more bizarre. Quirkily designed characters, over the top storytelling, and gruesome finishing moves known as fatalities – all of the franchise's trademark pillars – make a return in Mortal Kombat X. It's the tenth instalment of the series and it's on PlayStation 4 (PS4), PC, and Xbox One.
The game is running on a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 – the same technology that powered many last-generation console and PC games – but despite the old engine, Mortal Kombat X looks fantastic. Developer NetherRealm Studios appears to have eked out every last bit possible from Unreal Engine 3 to realise its vision of a strange world teeming with possibilities. From the many withering corpses to small details like spikes of ice, Mortal Kombat X is gorgeous game, especially in motion.

Life is Strange, Episode 1 Review: Teenage Drama and Time Travel

Life is Strange, Episode 1 Review: Teenage Drama and Time Travel

February 13, 2016 Richard Gomez 0

Life is Strange is a teenage drama with a twist, which plays out like a choose-your-own-adventure book where you're constantly flipping back the pages. Adventure games are going through their own little renaissance at the moment, but aside from remakes of classic games, the genre is almost entirely made up of Telltale Games' output. They've given us hugely successful and engaging games like The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and Game of Thrones.
But along the way, the genre has also become highly codified, and mechanically, there's little to differentiate between Telltale's games. Life is Strange from the French studio Dontnod Entertainment expands the formula while bringing its own additions to the core concept.
Dontnod is perhaps best known for the 2013 action game Remember Me. That game had a slick user interface, stunning aesthetics, and a gorgeous soundtrack, but fell short because of linear game design that didn't make..
