Supreme League of Patriots Review: Sloppy Fun

Over the last few years, games have started to fall into two main camps. One camp said that gameplay is everything – and then delivered a string of interchangeable monochrome first person shooters featuring protagonists of questionable morality and two mandatory plot twists. The other group camp insisted that games are a transcendental art form – and then delivered a string of morosely monochrome titles featuring a young protagonist who would overcome terrible odds and learn something about his/ her self and/ or relationships, usually while jumping over platforms against the backdrop of a moody soundtrack.
Of course, there are plenty of games that still fall outside these two camps, and the steady revival of puzzle adventure games in particular is something we're very excited about.

Divide by Sheep is a puzzle game that requires math, advanced planning, and sometimes just a little bit of luck. That description might sound less than exciting, but the game makes up for this by making you drown the sheep, feed them to wolves, slice them to pieces, and generally have some fun with the cuddly critters. Developer Bread Team has created some of the fluffiest looking cartoon sheep in the world, and then gone out of the way to let you torture them with impunity as you ostensibly try and save a few of them from inevitable death. The game has been released now for iOS and Steam, with an Android version in the works.
There's a bit of a story at the beginning of the game, setting things up, but much like Cut the Rope, the exposition is minimal, and safe to skip. Transistor – made by Bastion creators Supergiant Games – first released in May 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and Windows, followed by Linux and OS X versions in October. Following in Bastion's footsteps, the game was released for iOS devices earlier this month.
We'd played the PC version last year and loved it, so purchasing Transistor on day-one was an obvious choice. But how has it fared in the journey to mobile devices, and should you buy this game for your iPhone or iPad, especially if you haven't played the PC or PS4 version?

Sky Sutra Is Part Shooter, Part Platformer, All Awesome – and Made in India

A corner table of a local bar is hardly where you would expect to check out a brand new, unreleased video game, but that's exactly what happened as we huddled around a laptop and played Sky Sutra. Created by Mumbai-based Yellow Monkey Studios, Sky Sutra has a heavy focus on couch co-op, and is coming to the PC and possibly, the PlayStation 4.
Yellow Monkey has already made a name for itself with high quality premium mobile games such as It's Just a Thought, Huebrix, and most recently, Socioball. Sky Sutra is meant for a new audience, but the developers have made a polished game that makes good use of the controller.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition Review – Worth Playing Again?

With every game – from 1983 classic such as Jetpac to the likes of Halo 3 – seeing a release on the Xbox One, it was just a matter of time before 2006's monster hit Gears of War found its way onto Microsoft's new console. For the uninitiated, Gears of War takes place on the planet Sera where humans are at war with a subterranean race of monstrous creatures known as the locust. You're thrust into the role of Marcus Fenix, a soldier charged with a crucial mission that could turn the tide of the war.
The remake, dubbed Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, promises to be the same third-person shooter as before, with some modern day trappings to make it palatable to newcomers and fans alike. Considering how poor some current generation remasters have been – Saints Row 4 and Prototype come to mind – we half-expected this to be a phoned-in attempt at cashing in on the franchise's popularity before Gears of War 4 hits the shelves. However we were pleasantly mistaken.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles India Review

With Assassin's Creed games taking place in exotic locales like Rome and the Caribbean Islands, it was just a matter of time before Ubisoft's historical stealth-action franchise had an entry set in India. It's finally here and it's called Assassin's Creed Chronicles India.
If the game's screenshots didn't give it away, this isn't a brand new, 3D entry in the series complete with sprawling open-world filled to the brim with side-quests and distractions. Rather it's a 2.5D – 2D gameplay, with some design elements that allow you to move in the third dimension such as pillars you can hide behind – game in the style of Mark of the Ninja, or Assassin's Creed Chronicles China, which released last year. Stealth and action games have veered towards large, fully realised, realistic environments this generation, so the vibrant colours and locales of Assassin's Creed Chronicles India make for a welcome visual change.

The Star Wars franchise is one you either hate or love. From the original trilogy of movies that still hold up quite well to the horrible prequels that are best forgotten, it's one of the more divisive series around. The same can be said about Star Wars Battlefront as well. The game is a shooter that takes place in the Star Wars universe and is developed by Dice, the studio behind the Battlefield games. In Battlefront, you'll duke it out with friends and foes as part of either the Rebel Alliance or the Empire, in large, sprawling battles.
The first thing that's apparent in the game are its high production values. They're second to none. From the icy caves of Hoth to the forests of Endor, there's very little not to like about Star Wars Battlefront visually. BioShock Collection Headed to PS4 and Xbox One: Report

The entire BioShock franchise is already in development for backwards compatibility on the Xbox One, but you might be able to purchase the game for both current gen-consoles if reports are to be believed.

The series found life in 2007 on Windows PCs and Xbox 360, and has since then been released for PlayStation 3 among other desktop OSes and iOS devices. But on Friday, the Ministério da Justiça – Brazil's ministry of justice – rated BioShock: The Collection as “not recommended for minors under 18” for all major video game platforms, including PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360 and Xbox One; it was first spotted by video gaming blog VG247. In 2009, video games based on superheroes were categorised as low-rent shovelware. Then, we got Batman: Arkham Asylum. Developed by London-based Rocksteady Studios, the game was a revelation of sorts. It was rare to see a video game being faithful to its source material and yet being so much fun to play.
Six years and four games later, Rocksteady now gives us the last instalment in the series, Batman: Arkham Knight. It again has you in the role of the caped crusader, with occasional jaunts as one of his many allies, including Catwoman, Robin, and Nightwing. And if you ponied up for the pre-order downloadable content (DLC), then you'll also play as Joker's partner in crime, Harley Quinn. While even casual fans of the series will know all those names, you don't need to know much DC lore to get into the game.
