Alcatel Flash 2 - [year] Review

Alcatel Flash 2 – 2026 Review

September 9, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

Alcatel Onetouch, the joint venture between France's Alcatel and China's TCL, has been a background player in the Indian market for a while now. Several other Chinese companies have entered and made big splashes – not all have sustained their momentum, but Alcatel has popped up every now and then with a new release, reminding us that it's here.
The new Alcatel Flash 2 might raise the company's profile in India. It has a reasonable price and some interesting looks and features that set it apart in a very crowded space. We're eager to see what this device has in store for us.
Look and feel
The Alcatel Flash 2 has a pretty bold look which most other manufacturers seem to shy away from. At first glance it seems like a premium phone, but on closer inspection the shiny chrome frame which cradles the black front face and wraps around the sides is actually plastic. The front face is black and is bordered by subtle plastic strips which almost make it look as though the ..

Fallout 4 [year]

Fallout 4 2026

September 6, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

One of the more amusing stories doing the rounds right now is how Fallout 4's release led to a drop in traffic for Pornhub. It's a testament to the popularity of Bethesda's series of open-world post-apocalyptic role-playing games. But is its popularity justified? Most definitely so.
Unlike past Bethesda games such as Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, it doesn't take long to begin your adventure in Fallout 4. In the other games, you're taken through a lengthy and sometimes boring opening that does little justice to the rest of the experience. In Fallout 4, you're quickly thrown into the harsh, cruel world of Boston in record time, and this plays a crucial role in the game's appeal.
Your character goes through what happened the day a nuclear strike decimated the United States, only to wake up in a brave new world after being frozen for over 200 years. It begins with a simple premise – find out who killed your ..

Star Wars Battlefront Review [year]

Star Wars Battlefront Review 2026

November 30, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

The Star Wars franchise is one you either hate or love. From the original trilogy of movies that still hold up quite well to the horrible prequels that are best forgotten, it's one of the more divisive series around. The same can be said about Star Wars Battlefront as well. The game is a shooter that takes place in the Star Wars universe and is developed by Dice, the studio behind the Battlefield games. In Battlefront, you'll duke it out with friends and foes as part of either the Rebel Alliance or the Empire, in large, sprawling battles.
The first thing that's apparent in the game are its high production values. They're second to none. From the icy caves of Hoth to the forests of Endor, there's very little not to like about Star Wars Battlefront visually. Running on Frostbite Engine 3, the same technology that powers titles like Battlefield Hardline, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Need for Speed, Star Wars Battlefront is one of the best looking games we have s..

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Game Review

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Game Review

February 21, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Prem Game is the very catchy name of the mobile game based on the latest Salman Khan film, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, or PRDP for short, but unfortunately, the rest of the experience just keeps going downhill. Movie games are a mixed bag – there are some games that are planned as standalone experiences, and because they're not tied to a film's release date or story, are allowed to develop more organically into something you'll relish. But filmmakers have also started to see games based on movies as a way to add to the bottom-line of the film, and this usually means mobile games filled with ads and in-app purchases.
The latter is true with games made around Indian movies as well, and we've seen some pretty enjoyable mobile games for games like Krrish 3, Dhoom 3, and Rajinikanth-starrer Kochadaiiyaan. The Prem Game is no exception, and features full-screen ads while loading the game, each time you press pause, and banner ads while levels are being loaded. On the other han..

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 [year]

Lenovo Yoga Tablet 8 2026

November 16, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

Over the last few years, Lenovo has experimented with a number of designs for tablets, laptops and hybrids. No other company has launched so many different models which twist, flip, bend or detach in different ways. The approach seems to have paid off, though, because Lenovo has decided to extend its ideas to other parts of its portfolio.
The Yoga Tablet is an 8-inch Android device which honestly doesn't require any of the acrobatic design we first saw in the Yoga ultrabooks. Android tablets generally don't come with keyboards, so there isn't anything to detach or hide away. The mechanism in question here is a kickstand that swivels around a thick cylindrical base, and allows the Yoga Tablet 8 to stand up, recline, or lie slightly raised.
There's another reason for the cylinder's existence: a massive 6,000mAh battery that would never have fit into such a slim body otherwise. Lenovo has made the main body of the Yoga Tablet just a few millimetres thin, but the b..

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2: First impressions

Samsung Galaxy NotePRO 12.2: First impressions

February 23, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Samsung's new Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 tablet blurs the distinction between a laptop and a tablet computer.
Its on-screen keyboard has capabilities that are more common with laptops, and its screen is larger than what many laptops have. People can run several apps side by side, and multiple users can share the device with separate profiles.
Samsung also tries to make the NotePRO something professionals can use on the road, while leaving the laptop behind. It's packed with business tools such as a WebEx virtual conferencing app, a one-year subscription to Bloomberg Businessweek's digital magazine and one year of Wi-Fi access on airplanes through Gogo.
It's an impressive lineup of features. Unfortunately, it also has a price tag that exceeds that of many laptops – $750 for the base model with 32 gigabytes of storage, and $850 for 64 gigabytes.
If your primary reason for owning a tablet is to consume content, such as video, music, books and magazines, the NotePRO isn't..

Apple iWork [year] review

Apple iWork 2026 review

August 30, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

Microsoft's Office is the go-to software package for creating and sharing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Google's Docs has emerged as a good, free alternative for lightweight tasks. But what's often overlooked is Apple's iWork.
Last fall, the iWork applications for the Mac -Pages for word processing, Numbers for spreadsheets and Keynote for presentations- got their first major update since 2009 and now work better with iPhone and iPad versions. Apple also developed an online version that can work on Windows computers and let several people collaborate on a single document more easily.
Apple's iWork won't replace Office, and Google Docs is better in some ways. But after using iWork for a few months, I've come to appreciate the ways it simplifies work. It became my primary way of writing news stories at last week's Mobile World Congress wireless show in Barcelona, Spain.
The best part: iWork is free with the purchase of new Apple device..

Rise of the Tomb Raider Evaluation [year]

Rise of the Tomb Raider Evaluation 2026

November 22, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

One of the biggest reasons to own a PlayStation 3, or even a PlayStation 4, is the Uncharted series. They're a fantastic set of action-adventure games in the spirit of Indiana Jones movies and pulp action comics, as well being inspired by the Tomb Raider titles. While the Xbox One might have Gears of War and Halo, Microsoft doesn't have an answer to Uncharted. That's perhaps why Microsoft decided to pay for Rise of the Tomb Raider to be a timed-exclusive on the Xbox One. The game is a sequel to 2013's Tomb Raider reboot, and it's an impressive game, but is it a good enough reason to buy an Xbox One right now?
Set a year after the events of 2013's Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider puts you in the role of Lara Croft, as you explore and shoot your way through Siberia, searching for the lost city of Kitezh which holds the key to immortality. Along the way, you'll bear witness to an engrossing narrative involving the Remnant – local settlers – in confl..

WWE 2k16 [year]

WWE 2k16 2026

August 26, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

The WWE has been in video games for decades now, back from when it used to be called the World Wrestling Federation. These games aren't always the best games, but the over the top presentation and the accessibility of play means that the WWE games are a great couch multiplayer experience that you can always enjoy with your friends. WWE 2k16 isn't breaking from this tradition either, but along the way, it suffers from a problem that's common to many sports games.
These games need to strike a balance between the presentation as we see it on television – to keep fans interested – but it also needs to be playable, and finding the balance between the presentation and playability is often a challenge. The series is working towards that balance and if you look at the WWE games from WWE 2k14 onwards, you'll see a steady grind that's polishing away rough surfaces and leaving behind a game that's fun for fans and newcomers.
WWE 2k14 was a fun brawler that was grea..

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Review | Black Ops three Assessment

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Review | Black Ops three Assessment

October 30, 2017 Richard Gomez 1

Listening to user feedback seems to be a recurring theme for video games this year. Be it grandiose statements from game makers at events like E3 or posts on Steam, it appears to be the buzzword of choice at the moment, on par with “micro-transactions”, “free-to-play”, and “open-world” as one of the more overused words in gaming today.
But what does this have to do with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? Well, the game's developers at Treyarch have actually listened to what the fans were saying and there's no greater testament to that than Black Ops 3's campaign. Most games in the series limited the campaign to a quick five to six hour romp, meant to be a tutorial for the multiplayer, but Black Ops 3 has a much more engaging campaign for you.

The story missions are bigger than what we've come to expect from a Call of Duty game, and our playthrough lasted 15 hours. On finishing it, we were greeted by a ..

Dell Venue 7 and Dell Venue 8 – 2026 review

November 9, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

It isn't surprising that Dell has jumped into the Android tablet fray – it's only surprising that it took them so long to get serious about it. The PC industry's decline is now well documented and every major player is looking to diversify into other areas. Dell first tried its hand at smartphones and tablets back in 2009, but none of its attempts since then including the original Venue, Venue Pro, XCD, Streak and Mini product lines ever amounted to much.
Now, after a few years of focusing on Windows-based Ultrabooks, hybrids, and all-in-one desktops, Dell is has decided to give Android another shot. The Venue brand has been resuscitated and is now being used across a line of new tablets. There are two Android-based Venues and two Windows-powered Venue Pros.
The two Android tablets are extremely similar, with the primary difference being the size of their screens. As their names suggest, the Dell Venue 7 has a 7-inch screen while the Venue 8 has an 8-inch screen. We hav..

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 3G – 2026

October 26, 2017 Richard Gomez 0

Amazon announced an updated Kindle Paperwhite in September last year. The refreshed ebook reader comes with various improvements including a higher contrast display, a faster processor, improved touch technology, and several software enhancements.
While the Wi-Fi variant started shipping in US the same month, the Wi-Fi + 3G variant became available closer to the holiday season. The Kindle Paperwhite 3G (2013) was listed for pre-orders in India last month, and is now available via Amazon.in as well as offline retailers across the country.
Does the new Kindle Paperwhite come with enough improvements to stay ahead of the likes of the Kobo Glo? We spent a little over three weeks with the ebook reader in a bid to find out. Let's dig in.
Look and feel
At first glance, you'll be hard-pressed to find a difference between the Kindle Paperwhite 3G (2013) and its predecessor. The two have identical dimensions (169x117x9.1mm). While the current model (222g) is marginally heavier than the..
