Sony SLT Alpha 33 - [year]

Sony SLT Alpha 33 – 2025

July 21, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

The Sony SLT (Single Lens Translucent) Alpha 33 is a new DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) offered from Sony. This camera like the Sony Alpha 55 operates on the translucent mirror technology which enables very fast shooting. Its 7fps (frames per second) high speed continuous shooting mode is great and helps to capture scenes with ease. The Alpha 33 is quite small when compared to other DSLR's in the same price range. The question really is can the Sony Alpha 33 stand tall in a market dominated by Nikon and Canon?
Design & Built:
The Sony Alpha 33 feels strong and well built. The body is made of hard plastic, except for the rubberised hand grip and thumb rest. The Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) is also surrounded by a rubbery border.
On top right of the device we find the shutter button. It rests within the on/off toggle. It also houses the Finder/LCD Button and the D (Dynamic)-Range button. In the middle is the in-built flash which can be either manually brought up or pops up when req..

Review: Olympus E5 2025

May 14, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Even though Canon and Nikon remain the preferred DSLR choices of most professional and semi-professional photographers, Olympus has developed its own niche following. We have with us the Olympus E5, an upgrade to the Olympus E3. Read on to find out if the improvements are incremental or if the camera is long overdue for a rehash.
Design and build
The first thing that you will notice about the camera is that it is extremely well built with its weather-proof structure carved out of magnesium alloy. The grip, thumb rest and sides of the camera have a rubberized finish, which not only adds to the rugged look of the device but also to the comfort factor while holding it.
The overall look and build of the camera is top notch but the button layout will appeal only to an Olympus veteran. If you are a Canon or a Nikon user, it will take you quite a while to get used to the button layout.
To the top right of the device you have an information LED display. This display gives you all the informati..

Review: Olympus PEN E-P3 2025

April 30, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Olympus has brought out the latest in its PEN series of cameras, the Olympus PEN E-P3. It retains the same retro look of its predecessors but is packed with lots of new features that makes it one of a kind. It is faster, with a shutter speed of 60 miliseconds, and also has new add-ons like the inbuilt flash which is like a pop up element in the camera. Will this camera be the sum of its good looks or can it deliver?
Design and Build:
Designwise, this camera will remind you of the old timers with film reels. It feels very solid and steady. The body is of brushed aluminium and on the right side of the device is a faux leather hand grip, which prevents your hand from slipping off the smooth surface. The grip is removable.
The front of the camera has a Lens Release button. The top of the device has the in-built flash, a rotary dial with the different shooting modes, click button and the on/off button. Just below the in-built flash is a button which, when pressed, makes the flash pop up..

Review: Olympus SZ-30MR [year]

Review: Olympus SZ-30MR 2025

April 29, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Introduction:
Olympus's latest addition to their Super Zoom (SZ) series is the new SZ-30MR. It is a compact Point and Shoot camera packed with new and unique features like Multi-Recording (MR), Full 1080p High Definition still and video shooting, 3D, and 24x Super Zoom. Best of all, it is small enough to fit into your pockets and purses.
Design and Build:
The SZ-30MR is a well-built compact camera. It looks good but we're not sure how long that will last as the chrome build could wear off with time. The front facing portion is dark grey with a matte and chrome finish. The body is a little on the bulkier side since it incorporates a large 24x Optical Zoom lens which is also found in similar Point and Shoot cameras like the Sony DSC HV 100V with 30x Optical Zoom and Canon SX 30 with 35x Optical Zoom.
The built of the camera is quite sturdy. The hand-grip on the right enables you to keep a tight grip on the camera and it is very helpful when clicking pictures without a tripod. T..

Deadpool Is the Ultimate Date Movie for Your Bromance

Deadpool Is the Ultimate Date Movie for Your Bromance

November 10, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Of late, you'll find Deadpool just about everywhere, and he's become one of those characters that even non-comic book fans will recognise. Deadpool also has an excellent video game to his name that manages to mix together humour and mayhem with elan. As a movie character though, he's had a less successful past – we were first introduced to the character in the (honestly bad) X-Men Origins: Wolverine – where he was played by Ryan Reynolds, who did a fair turn as wisecracking Wade Wilson, and then the film stitches his mouth shut so he can't speak. It was a really bad decision that soured people on the character.
Yet here we are again, with Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool a second time, in an all-new origin story that actually works really well. This time around, Reynolds' Wilson gets to keep talking throughout the film, and it's a good idea because he carries the movie with his non-stop wisecracks. What's more, Deadpool is true to the comics, and fans ..

JBL T250SI [year] Review

JBL T250SI 2025 Review

June 29, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

JBL is an established name in India when it comes to car audio, professional and live event sound systems, as well as home audio setups. It's also successfully leveraged this image to build its name in multimedia and personal audio products, and products such as the JBL Synchros E40BT and JBL Go have fared well in our reviews.
Although the majority of the JBL product range is priced in mid-range territory, there are a handful of budget products on offer, and these sell well thanks to the company's instantly recognisable name and reputation. Among these is the JBL T250SI, which we have on review today. This pair of on-ear headphones currently sells at Rs. 990, and promises powerful bass. We go into the finer details with our review.
Design, specifications and comfort
As is the case with the identically priced Sony MDR-ZX110, the JBL T250SI is plastic. However, the inner frame of the headset is metal, and the headband has decent padding and an interesting stitched pattern along..

Philips SHE1360/97 [year] Review

Philips SHE1360/97 2025 Review

July 19, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

Headphones can get really expensive, depending on which brand you're buying and what kind of performance you're looking for. You could end up spending upwards of one lakh rupees on a pair such as the Audeze LCD-3, or if you're really serious about personal audio, there's the $55,000 Sennheiser Orpheus. But if your needs are more functional and your budget limited, what do you do?
You buy low-end, of course, and you're unlikely to find a lot of audio products less expensive than the Philips SHE1360/97. Selling at Rs. 150 (maybe a little less if you look around), it's one of the most affordable pairs of earphones you can buy from a reputed brand. With the Philips name and a price tag that's probably lower than what you paid for lunch yesterday, the Philips SHE1360/97 is on our review bench today.
Specifications, design, and comfort
As far as specifications go, the Philips SHE1360/97 is straight up impressive. The 15mm dynamic drivers are large for a pai..

BlackBerry Priv 2025 Review

May 21, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

We've been following BlackBerry's journey from the top of the smartphone market to the bottom, and it has been extremely tempting on multiple occasions to declare the company effectively dead. Poor decision after poor decision has resulted in the company's products – which were the absolute must-have status symbols of an entire generation – being seen now as relics from the distant past. There are holdouts, no doubt, but their number is diminishing every day.
BlackBerry, the company formerly known as Research in Motion, has had many chances over the past few years to set its course right, but has instead launched one outlandish product after another; trying anything that might work. We liked the unusually shaped Passport (Review | Pictures), but it was never going to be a mass-market success. More recently, the Classic (Review | Pictures) represented a U-turn in strategy to cater to everyone who hated BB10's touch interface, and the Leap (Review) tried to appeal to ..

Le Max 2025 Review

May 1, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

China's Letv started making headlines in India back in April 2015, and less than a year later, the company has arrived here to compete in the gruelling smartphone race. Originally one of the largest online video companies in China, Letv has added a couple of 'firsts' to its name within a short span. Its Le Max Pro is the world's first smartphone with Qualcomm's highly anticipated Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the company also had the world's slimmest 65-inch TV to its credit this CES, with a depth of just 3.9mm thick. Other than phones and televisions, the company has a diverse range of products too, which it plans to launch in India over time.
With its sights set on major developed and emerging markets, the company has undergone a rebranding exercise and is now called LeEco, which signifies a whole ecosystem of tech products and services. LeEco has rolled out its first smartphones in India and today, we'll be reviewing its flagship offering, the Le Max. T..

Le 1s and Le Max First Impressions

Le 1s and Le Max First Impressions

November 6, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

LeEco, the Chinese Internet conglomerate better known by its former name Letv, has finally launched its first products for the Indian market. The Le Max and Le 1s have been unveiled and will be available in India using the infamous flash sale model, in which interested buyers need to sign up in advance for a chance to buy one of a limited number of units that will be available.
The company recently garnered a lot of interest with its CES announcement of the Le Max Pro, first smartphone to sport the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Letv recently rebranded itself to LeEco (short for Le Ecosystem) ahead of the Indian launch, and offers live-streaming, e-commerce and cloud services and sells smartphones, TV set-top boxes and smart TVs, among many other things, in its home market China. At the launch event in New Delhi, LeEco had members of its SuperFans community in attendance. We have seen many other brands including Asus, Meizu, and Xiaomi following the same strategy at their respe..

Coolpad Note 3 Lite [year] Review

Coolpad Note 3 Lite 2025 Review

July 3, 2018 Richard Gomez 0

The Coolpad Note 3 Lite, as the name suggests, is a toned down version of the Coolpad Note 3 (Review | Pictures) that launched back in October last year. It was one of the first phones in the sub-Rs. 10,000 price segment to sport a fingerprint sensor, and today, the company is bringing this feature available at an even lower price segment.
(Also see: Coolpad Note 3 Lite vs Coolpad Note 3)
Our initial impressions of the Note 3 Lite were fairly positive but that was after using it for just a short while. Let's see if Coolpad will be able to disrupt the entry-level Android market with its latest offering.

Look and feel
The Coolpad Note 3 Lite has all the hallmarks of a budget phone but a few good design choices help it stand out. The gold trim running along the edges of the body, camera lens, and fingerprint sensor jazzes up the phone a bit. The quality of the plastics and the overall fit and finish of the parts is quite good, and the phone feels sturdy and durable on the whole.

Onida i4G1 Review [year]

Onida i4G1 Review 2025

May 17, 2016 Richard Gomez 0

Onida is a well-known name in the Indian electronics market, and one that is highly associated with televisions. One of India's earliest home-grown manufacturers of TV sets, the company started its operations in the early 1980s in Mumbai and has now grown to become a respected name in home appliances alongside its traditional strength base in televisions and home entertainment.
As with any company looking to grow, Onida has made its way into the competitive but highly lucrative smartphone industry. The company's current flagship device is the low-cost Onida i4G1. Priced at Rs. 8,999, the Onida i4G1 hopes to offer budget users a quality Indian option with good specifications. Whether or not it lives up to expectations is the question that we hope to answer with our review.
Look and feel
When it comes to looks, the Onida i4G1 doesn't break any new ground and is far outmatched by lower priced competitors. At the front, the phone looks plain and ordinary, with no real stylin..
